Here's Dave's story of his 67 GTX:

I was over a buddy's house in January to see his 66 Shelby GT350 Tribute car that he just completed.  As we were talking he spoke of an old GTX his cousin had owned for a number of years knowing I was an avid Mopar fan and would be interested hearing about the car.

As our conversation continued I had asked questions about the car and he mentioned that he thought it might be for sale…  Within 5 minutes we were in Chip's truck on our way over Dennis' house.  There, tucked away in a side garage was the GTX.  I looked underneath the rear of the car to get a glimpse of the undercarriage (often a very ugly sight here in the Northeast) and saw the Dana-60 staring at me! I was very excited to find that this car could be a Hemi or at the very least a 4spd car.  The rest of the car was very clean and virtually rust free – it had been undercoated from the factory and then shipped to FL to spend some years there with its first owner.  I noticed a small battery charger hooked to the battery – Dennis had told me that something was draining it over a period of a couple days, a minor issue that I'd get to later – I NEEDED TO SEE THIS CAR OUT OF THE GARAGE!!

It was NINE degrees when we fired up the ol'440, shifted into reverse and slowly pulled her out of her seasonal crypt – she ran strong and quiet due to those 2 foot long OEM mufflers still attached to the pipes – but I loved it!

One quick scan around the car and I knew this was the real thing – here in front of me was a two owner, #'s matching 440/4spd/Dana GTX, one that had been repainted its original EE1 Midnight Blue over it's original sheet metal. "The buildsheet is in the house" Dennis said, I smiled to myself… the fendertag has never moved from its perch on the left inner fender… with no power steering and manual drum brakes, this car was ordered to get the ice cream home before it melts – for sure…

It currently has 70,200 miles on the odometer, and it's engine was rebuilt at 60,000 miles in 1990 – Dennis and I agreed on a price and I arranged to have my buddy come get the car with his flat bed about two weeks later.  I managed to trace the car back to its original owner, but unfortunately he had passed away.  I did speak to his nephew who remembers that car as being one of his favorites – he's looking for some old pictures to send me.  The car originally came with 7.75 Whitewalls with full wheel covers but they are long gone.  I'm also going to find a set of 15x7 wheels with dog dishes for that classic sinister Mopar look.

I've removed the under dash aftermarket radio and will look for an old FM-Converter.  The three gauges installed in the dash will eventually be removed and the dash will be repaired or replaced. The engine was wrongly sprayed Hemi orange and I'm currently in the middle of correcting that. I've rebuilt the master cylinder, adjusted the clutch, and she drives great.
